Carter Too?

I knew he was hurt after that awkward fall into the boards. Turns out he has a separated shoulder. So last year, Coburn and Timonen were both injured during the Pens series. This year it's Carter, Richards, and maybe half the team. I guess we'll have to wait and see who else winds up in the doctor's office.

Flyers Odds and Ends

So Holmgren had a press conference today on the state of the Flyers organization. He was asked a lot of questions about the goalie situation, the cap, the defense, et al. He didn't really answer any of them. At least not in the part I watched before I fell asleep. I mean, took my lunch break. I have transcribed what I remember from it:

Reporter: Do you think Biron is your goalie of the future?
PH: That's something we need to look at and talk about in the offseason.

Reporter: Is the cap going to hinder you this offseason?
PH: That's going to be something we are going to look at and talk about. We're not sure where the cap number is going to be, so I can't comment further.

Reporter: Are you going to be able to sign Biron and Niittymaki?
PH: We've had talks with both their agents, and we'll have to see with the cap and all.
---------
Good news for Richards: He is up for the Selke.
Bad news: He will probably not win it. Oh, and he is due to have surgery on at least one shoulder (maybe both). Plus, amazon is apparently trying to sell him:

AND, the old lady syndrome is still alive and well in the locker room - everyone has hip problems. I wonder what else will come out in regards to injuries, since they are so secretive about that stuff...

Pics From the Game

Yeah, I'm still depressed, so I'll just post a couple of Flyers pics from the other day. And my very own Fail Pic. Enjoy.

The Series is Over

*insert frowny face here*

So I scored awesome (row seven off one of the blue lines) tix for yesterday's debacle. I mean game. I really thought they were going to pull it off after the great first period. And then it was all downhill from there. Sigh.

I will try to upload some pics when I have recovered from the spiral of doom I embarked on after yesterday's game. Since I cannot go without hockey for the entire summer, I am jumping on another team's bandwagon. I have yet to decide which team, so if anyone has bribes for me, I'll take them. I am leaning towards Boston. You know it won't be the Pens or the Rags.

On another note, I have to say that I really liked the 3 o'clock game. It was late enough that you don't feel weird drinking (maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time drinking in the morning), but you get out in time for a nice dinner and/or drinks. Plus, you can get some stuff done before the game, so it doesn't feel like you spent the entire day at the stadium.

Thanks to the Flyers for another exciting season. I thought you could have gone farther. I can't wait for next season.

Go Phillies!

Time to choose.

That is all.

T-Shirts: Who Approved These?

So I went to Champs Sports (the store, not the bar) the other night, and as is my custom in any sports apparel store, I checked out the Flyers stuff. They had a lot of orange jerseys (all Briere), and some really cool orange t-shirts, with the player names and numbers "cut out" of the shirt and overlaid with different (jersey-type) fabric. It was cooler than it sounds, because it's hard to explain. Anyway, I almost bought one. The problem? Well, let's just say it had to deal with whose name was on the shirt. Prospal. Yes, you read that right. The shirts (which were marked at the full price of $25, by the way) were all emblazoned with Prospal's name. A player that hasn't been on the team for almost a year. Which lead me to ask, were these left-overs? Did someone make a mistake in ordering or making them? I hope that no one pays full price for one of those. I'd be bargaining them down to $10. You know, if I liked Prospal.

So They Lost...

The Flyers lost the "must-win" game tonight. What does that mean? Well, nothing good, that's for sure. I'm too frustrated to do an analysis, so I just have some random stuff.

- Congrats to Carcillo on his first goal as a Flyer. I still would rather have Upshall.
- Richards played like a mad man. Bill Clement compared him to a swiss army knife, and I can see the comparison.
- Fleury was ... well I don't even want to talk about it.

Have I mentioned that I hate the Penguins? Well I do. What a bunch of whining cavemen-looking creatures. Yeah, I'm pretty mad right now. Why don't I have steam coming out of my ears? (Well maybe I do, but since this is the internet, you can't see it. So you'll have to believe me when I say I don't.) One word: Failblog. (You can read irony into this if you want to.) Some of that stuff is hardcore funny. I sometimes wonder if the pics are real, but then realize that I don't care because they are flipping funny.

Dare I Say It Again?

So this is pretty much a must-win for the Flyers tonight. Again. Yeah, I said it. (Well, I typed it, but whatever.) It's pretty much that way from here on out, no?

Also, did you see this story? Keep in mind that the ESPN survey he is referring to was a player survey... which means the NHL players decided that the Philadelphia fans were the most intimidating in the league.

The Cheesecake Factory

So I went to dinner tonight at The Cheesecake Factory. And when I think of The Cheesecake Factory, I think of armadillos....... and cheesecake, I guess...... but yeah, mostly armadillos. But who knew that the food there was really good (who ever eats anything other than cheesecake there)? And that they gave you enough to feed three people? Seriously. And the drinks were pretty good too. A little expensive for me (one shot of mid-shelf vodka in my drink for $10? Come on.) I was so full from the third of my meal that I ate that I couldn't eat cheesecake. What kind of trade off is that? What they should do is give people less food, so they have to order two pieces of cheesecake! That's the way to make money.

One down... Many to Go

Getty Images by way of Yahoo! Sports

So, the Flyers pulled it off (phew). They won a big game and looked like a team for most of the contest. Many of the players (Giroux, Richards, Carter, Timonen, Parent, the list goes on...) really stepped up and played a good game. Also, congrats to Ross and Giroux for their first NHL playoff goals.

The detractors will say that the team still managed to take some time off in the middle of the game. And they'd be right. But overall, they played their game and they played it well. I think that if this team played every game like the fans know they can, then they would be a lock for the finals. There is still a lot of work to be done, but I feel good about the way they played today, and I hope they can keep it up.

Was it just me, or did the orange unis look better than normal? They looked like they went back to the blood orange 70's shade, rather than the construction cone orange of this season. Let's hope that it really was different and not just a trick of the lighting.

The Phillies managed a come-from-behind win with a walk-off HR by Ibanez. Exciting finish to a game that I (mostly) missed since I was busy being nervous during the Flyers game.

The Sixers look like they are going to lose, but who really cares about them anyway? In my opinion, it's a good day for Philadelphia sports. Hey, like Meatloaf said, "two out of three ain't bad." (Who hates me for getting that song in their head? I think I hate myself on that one...)

Let's hope the Flyers keep it up for the rest of the week. Let's Go Flyers!

Yes, I'm a Philadelphia Sports Fan

So sue me. So boo me. Do whatever to me. I don't care. I love the Philadelphia teams. Well, mostly the Flyers and Phillies, but I could be talked into talking about the Eagles or Sixers... maybe.

The Flyers are playing a pretty important game today against the Penguins (ewww!!) As many games seem this time of year, this is a must-win (I feel like I - and others - have been saying this at least every day in the past few weeks). But this one really is! Really!

They better pull this one out. I thought they were going to win Friday night, but lost in a crushing overtime. They also broke my lucky *insert article of clothing here* streak. Now I have to pick something else to be superstitious with.

Sunday means...

Time to look at some hot guys. This week's edition includes: Hugh Dancy, Bailey Chase, and Ian Somerhalder.

You're welcome! :)

Blog

So I decided to start a blog.  Why, you ask?  No particular reason.  Maybe I just needed an outlet for all those funny websites, videos, pictures I come across on the internet.  We'll see how it goes.  :P
